CCR are a market leading magazine for the credit industry and have been a trusted source of news, opinion, and regulatory matters for many years. 

As part of their responsibility, CCR host regular conferences, providing industry with the opportunity to hear about best practice, listen to leading industry experts, and participate in networking opportunities.

As a result of COVID-19 it became impossible to continue with these conferences in their usual format however, the need for communication, debate and support within the industry had never been greater as businesses faced such financial uncertainty. 

CCR partnered with Glasgows to launch CCRInteractive: Virtual, an online event bringing together industry and government leaders to discuss burning issues and take questions from the online audience. It was important to CCR that the event was executed professionally not only in terms of presentation delivery, but also provided a community space where participants could network in advance, share ideas, and pose questions to the speakers.

CCR expected an audience of 100 delegates and time was of the essence in terms of planning and delivery, with CCR’s goal to have the first event in April just three weeks from our first planning meeting.

Live streaming and virtual events are not new to us, we’ve been delivering hybrid or standalone online events for years now and this experience was pivotal in allowing us to deliver a virtual conference in such a short timescale.  

We understood CCR wanted to deliver a seamless professional event, with their delegates able to view and participate in the event from a single platform (rather than having to download and join from video conferencing solutions). 

Utilising our online events platform, GEM, we created a branded event website, registration portal and virtual hub to allow access to the event. Once registered, delegates had access via a secure login to the virtual hub where they could find partner and speaker information; a digital delegate pack, including a searchable delegate list providing opportunity to make connections with others via instant messaging and personal contact lists; a social wall where CCR, their speakers and delegates could share thoughts and ideas ahead of the event; and the opportunity to submit questions in advance which allowed CCR to see the priorities of their audience and adjust presentation content to suit. 


The social wall was used particularly well in the lead up to and during the event. Stephen Kiely, Editor of CCR magazine said “I really like this area as it is very much like the tea break spot at a conference allowing delegates to introduce themselves to each other and leave comments”.

Delegates viewed the event from a page within the virtual hub, with the speakers’ video and audio feed taken from a video conferencing platform then live streamed out by us. Our technicians had full control of speakers’ microphones and slide content and our project manager was in constant communication with them to “stage” manage the event, resulting in a seamless stream for the live audience and taking pressure off the speakers, allowing them to focus on their presentations. 

Graphic overlays were added to the live stream which included session titles, speaker names and even audience questions as they were addressed live.

We conducted one to one training sessions with speakers a few days before the event to ensure they were familiar with the technology and how the stage management would work. 

During the live event, delegates were able to submit further questions beneath the video player, targeted to specific speakers which were then moderated via our companion Q&A app for use during Q&A panel sessions, and take part in live polls.

We provided additional support to delegates via a dedicated email and telephone line, prior to and live throughout the event. 

A recording of the live stream was made available in the virtual hub for anyone who could not view it live, with delegates joining via a video on demand ticket.

Through the lifecycle of the event, a secure client area was provided to CCR with 24/7 access to stats and figures for the event.

The first CCRInteractive: Virtual event was extremely successful, so much so that CCR have now committed to a further two events, with scope to broaden this to bigger virtual events moving forward.

The event generated:
